Privacy Policy
Effective October 6, 2026
Are We Working LLC (“Are We Working,” “we,” “us”) runs a service that lets businesses publish a live operating status page (Open, Partially open, or Closed) and alert people who ask to be notified when it changes. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website at areweworking.org and the related status pages, alerts, and tools (the “Service”).
1. Who this covers
- Business account holders — people who sign up to run a status page for a business, and their team members.
- Subscribers — people who ask to receive status alerts from a business, for example employees of that business.
- Visitors — anyone who views a status page or website.
2. Information we collect
From business account holders and their teammates: your name, email address and password (stored in protected form by our authentication provider), your business name, status page address (handle), logo, your role on the account (admin or updater), the status updates and notes you publish, and your subscription plan and trial dates. Payment card details are entered directly with our payment processor, Stripe; we never see or store your full card number. We keep Stripe customer and subscription identifiers so we can manage your billing.
From subscribers: your name, and your email address and/or mobile phone number, the fact and time that you gave consent, whether a business has approved or declined your request, whether you have unsubscribed, and a record of the alerts sent to you.
From everyone: basic technical information that our hosting provider records when a page is requested, such as IP address, browser type, and the pages requested. We use this to run, secure, and troubleshoot the Service.
Cookies: we use only the cookies needed to keep business account holders signed in. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics trackers.
3. How we use information
- To provide the Service: publish status pages, process subscription requests, and send the alerts you asked for.
- To create and manage accounts, process payments, and provide customer support.
- To secure the Service, prevent abuse and fraud, and meet legal obligations.
- To contact you about your account, billing, and important changes to the Service.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
4. Text message (SMS) and email alerts
Alerts are sent only to people who have asked for them by submitting the “Get alerts” form on a business’s status page and agreeing to receive them. A business administrator must approve each request before alerts begin. Message frequency varies with how often the business changes its status. Message and data rates may apply to text messages. You can stop text messages at any time by replying STOP, and get help by replying HELP. Every alert email includes an unsubscribe link.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, excluding the service providers that deliver the messages on our behalf as described below.
5. Who we share information with
The business you subscribe to. If you request alerts from a business, its administrators can see the name, email address, and phone number you submitted and your approval status, so they can approve requests and manage their list.
Service providers who process information only to help us run the Service:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage.
- Vercel — website hosting.
- Stripe — subscription payments and billing.
- Resend — delivery of email alerts.
- Twilio — delivery of text message alerts.
We may also disclose information if required by law or legal process, to protect the rights, safety, or property of others, or as part of a merger or sale of our business (in which case we will require the new owner to honor this policy).
6. Public information and AI assistants
A business’s status page — its name, logo, current status, note, and when it was last updated — is public by design. To make that information easy to find, we publish it in formats that search engines and AI assistants can read, and we offer an interface that lets an AI assistant look up a status. Business account holders can switch off discovery in their dashboard, which removes the page from search listings and assistant search (anyone with the exact link can still open it). An AI assistant may submit an email alert request for a person only after that person has explicitly agreed to receive alerts, and the request still requires the business’s approval.
7. How long we keep information
We keep account information while the account is active. If a business account is deleted, its data — including its status history and subscriber list — is deleted from our systems. When a teammate is removed from a business, their login and personal information (name, email address, and sign-in records) are permanently deleted; status changes they made remain in the business’s history without their identity. When a subscriber unsubscribes, we keep a minimal record of that choice so we can keep honoring it. We may keep limited records longer where required for legal, accounting, or security reasons.
8. Security
We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls that separate each business’s data from every other business’s. No online service can guarantee perfect security, so please use a strong, unique password.
9. Your choices and rights
- Stop alerts: reply STOP to a text, or use the unsubscribe link in any email.
- Access, correct, or delete your information: email us at the address below. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws, and we will honor valid requests as the law requires.
- Business account holders can edit most account information in the dashboard, and can ask us to delete the account.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
10. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here with a new effective date, and for significant changes we will take additional steps to notify you where appropriate. Your use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
